In Lac Saint-Jean, any occasion is good to eat it, even at breakfast brunch! Each family has its original recipe, we can generalize by saying that a ''tourtière'' is a large meat pie with potatoes and broth. However, even the finest mouths love it. This culinary heritage is well anchored in Quebec traditions, the tourtière is the perfect recipe to receive a large number of guest!

INGREDIENTS: Potatoes, meats (pork and beef), onion, water, concentrated beef broth, concentrated chicken broth, salt, pepper. Dough: Enriched wheat flour, vegetable oil shortening (modified palm oil, canola oil), water, sugar (white sugar), salt, calcium propionate, vinegar.

FROM: Quebec (Lac-St-Jean)

Instructions :

  • Pre-heat the oven at 375 F
  • Remove the aluminum foil BUT keep it for later use
  • Put the STILL FROZEN tourtiere on the oven and make it brown for about 1 hour
  • Lower the temperature between 275 F and 300 F (depending of the power of the oven), put back the aluminum foil and let it cook for about 3 hours
  • While cooking, prepare a beef stock (1 cup of boiling water and 1 tablespoon of beef Bovril)
  • Add the beef stock to the tourtiere, keep the aluminum foil and cook for about 2 hours

Tip : Cook slowly for a better taste.
